Dakota Fanning : Become 18

Dakota Fanning turned 18 today unveiling a poster of her upcoming film “Now Is Good.” The child star gone adult star today, has been in Hollywood’s spotlight for over a decade and has acted alongside many A-list actors including Denzel Washington in “Man on Fire” and Sean Penn in her breakout film “I Am Sam.”IMDB reports Fanning will play the role of Tessa Scott, “A girl dying of leukemia compiles a list of things she'd like to do before passing away. Topping the list is her desire to lose her virginity.” The news of Fanning’s birthday comes after the actress’s recent controversial spectacle on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine.
Fanning was a minor at the time the edition published this month’s issue. Fanning was placed on the cover with captions reading “His Best Sex Ever,” and, “Too Naughty To Stay Here: But You Have to Try This Sex Trick.” The parallel seems rather evident to her upcoming role, where her number one desire is to lose her virginity. A Cosmopolitan representative told Fox News “We’re thrilled to feature Dakota Fanning on the February cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine and she looks stunning. Dakota, who turns 18 this month, is a mature, fearless young woman and we are proud to honor her as our Fun Fearless Female of the year.” With the minor years behind her now, the arguments for and against Fanning’s Cosmopolitan issue have become mute. Fanning claims, ‘I’m interested in good characters and the experience,’ when describing her upcoming role. “Now Is Good” has not set a release date but see some posters and images of Fanning on the set below.

Dakota Fanning :: Forgets about her Age

Twilight star Dakota Fanning, who turns 18 at the end of February, appears gorgeous and grown up with dark eyes, white blonde hair, and a form-fitting dress. But some media watchers have attacked the magazine for using pictures of a minor beside captions reading "His Best Sex Ever" and "Too Naughty To Stay Here: But You Have to Try This Sex Trick". "Cosmopolitan is going overboard by putting an underage girl on its cover surrounded by such article titles," media expert Rachelle Friberg told FOXNews.com.
"It is one thing to educate young women about sex and their bodies, but putting a young, underage girl on the cover of a magazine that had long been known to push the limits is sending the wrong message." However, the magazine is not backing away from its decision. "We're thrilled to feature Dakota Fanning on the February cover of Cosmopolitan magazine and she looks stunning. Dakota ... is a mature, fearless young woman and we are proud to honor her as our Fun Fearless Female of the year,"
a Cosmopolitan rep said. "We applaud her unprecedented accomplishments which will continue in 2012 with her four upcoming movie roles," the statement added. Fanning's rep didn't return calls for comment and it was unclear if the actress even knew or approved of being Cosmo's Fun Fearless Female. Magazines have no obligation to tell any celebrity they will be appearing in their pages "I'm generally not all that worked up about the still-17-year-old actress appearing on the cover of Cosmopolitan," said Amelia McDonell-Parry of TheFrisky.com. "Generally the actor/actress interviews in Cosmo are nothing more than puff pieces accompanied by cheeky Q&As, not all that different from the type of questions Fanning would get from Teen Vogue," she added. The Cosmo issue comes just months after a Marc Jacobs' perfume ad featuring Fanning was banned in the UK for sexualizing a minor. It featured a young-looking Fanning in a short, girly dress with a giant bottle of the perfume between her legs.
