Eva Longoria was. Eight years later you probably do. Her rise to fame is thanks in no small part to successful ABC primetime soap "Desperate Housewives," in which she played philandering former model Gabrielle Solis, one of a gaggle of over-the-top women living in an idyllic suburban neighborhood. The show may have ended in May, but, according to a new interview in Lucky magazine, Longoria has been parlaying the fame it gave her into bigger and better things.The 37-year-old is currently working on her master's degree in Chicano studies, is starring in three upcoming feature films, is an executive producer on both a new Lifetime soap and NBC dating show, has been trying to get President Obama reelected by focusing on swing states, and studies the Constitution in her spare time. "I just read the Ronald Reagan biography. When you're fighting for social justice, one of my biggest pet peeves is speaking out of ignorance."

The Texas-born beauty also gets to take advantage of the fun and glamorous parts of politics, attending events like the White House Correspondents dinner. If she makes it to the Inaugural Ball next year (that would be if Obama wins, of course), Longoria knows the kind of dresses she won't be wearing — the Gucci frock she donned for the Lucky shoot, for instance. "The back is too sheer for the White House. I'd never wear this," she exclaims.Longoria would however, turn to her pal, Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham for White-house worthy wear, and reveals that since she and Posh are the same size, she can just pick something out from her pal's own closet. The two are so close, in fact, that Victoria and her husband David made her godmother to their daughter Harper, born last spring. "Victoria is so funny!" Longoria says of her friend. "And I have such appreciation for her style."
As for Longoria's own style, she's never not put together, it seems, even when she's donning her "uniform of jeans and tanks and blazers." But when it comes to shoes, the 5'2" star prefers a little height … and not for the reason you might think. "I was born in platform heels," she says. "I actually always fall down when I'm wearing flip-flops."

Eva Longoria :: Dating with exbf

Eva Longoria is sparking rumors that she's rekindling her romance with Eduardo Cruz. Just weeks after she was reported to have called it quits with the younger brother of Penelope Cruz, the "Desperate Housewives" beauty was caught on camera leaving West Hollywood's Chateau Marmont in the same car with him. About the Sunday, April 1 outing, an inside source told X17 Online, "Over the course of the evening, Eva and Eduardo were holding hands and whispering to each other, and things definitely appear to be back on between them." Another source also gave similar remarks to Us Weekly as saying, "Eva and Eduardo were seated together and deep in conversation. They looked like there is still a spark there."

 A source close to Eva, however, was doubtful that the 37-year-old actress is back on again with her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend. Insisting that the twosome are just friends after dating for more than a year, the insider told PEOPLE that their breakup was "mutual decision". The source added, "There's still feelings of affection there, but I don't think they're getting back together." Eva met Eduardo through his sister Penelope who introduced them at a party, shortly after her split from second husband Tony Parker. News of their split surfaced in early March, less than a week before the "Over Her Dead Body" actress turned 37. It was said that following the split, Eva put all her focus on "work and the end of 'Desperate Housewives'," and Eduardo returned to Madrid, Spain.

Eva Longoria :: Joining Obama for Re Elected

The nearly three dozen re-election committee “co-chairs” named by President Barack Obama Wednesday are an interesting indication of the incumbent’s strategic thinking as his campaign shifts into high gear. Taken together, the appointees are a roadmap not just to where the president and his political advisers see his support, but also to where they hope to deepen or extend it. Two of the 35 nominees — Eva Longoria and Harold and Kumar star Kal Penn (real name Kalpen Modi) are longtime and unwavering Obama supporters.
She vigorously campaigned for him last time around and he actually served for a time as associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. Their appointment recognizes not simply their personal loyalty to the president, but also the importance Obama and his political strategists attach to Hollywood in this crucial stage of their reelection effort. They’ll be looking to the entertainment industry for both contributions and high visibility celebrity endorsements of the sort both Longoria and Penn provide. One of the striking things about the co-chair list is the number of Latinos —seven (or one out of every five appointees.)
The Latino vote went to Obama in 2008, but hard economic times have battered many communities of recent immigrants — like Los Angeles — and some activists have been disappointed by the president’s tepid engagement with the issue of comprehensive immigration reform. 
Wednesday’s appointments indicate that the Obama reelection campaign is determined to shore up its Latino base with appointments ranging from San Antonio’s popular mayor Julian Castro to Los Angeles chief executive Antonio Villaraigosa and local labor leader Maria Elena Durazo of the AFL-CIO. Apart from Latinos, the biggest single bloc among Obama’s new co-chairs consists of Californians, who occupy six of the slots. They include not only Durazo and Villaraigosa, but also two of the state party’s rising stars, San Gabriel Valley congresswoman Judy Chu and state Atty. Gen. Kamala Harris, another of Hollywood’s political darlings. According to the Obama reelection campaign, the new co-chairs will act as the president’s electoral ambassadors with a special emphasize on getting out the vote in all 50 states.

Eva Longoria :: New Date Rumor

Eva Longoria is not happy being romantically linked to Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes. The 36-year-old actress has slammed the recent dating speculations by writing on her Who Say account, "First Jessica Simpson, now this. Once again, press gets it wrong, Matt Barnes and I are not dating!"

"We are doing a charity event together for Padres and Athletes vs. Cancer," so the Gabrielle Solis of "Desperate Housewives" insisted. She went on to question, "Why is the truth never the headline? Why did I bother to comment when they put your statement at end of articles? #stillannoying."

Eva, who divorced San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker in 2010, was rumored to be dating Matt after New York Post's Page Six came out with a report on Sunday, October 30 that the Texas-born actress "may have her eye on a new baller". It was said that the two were "very flirty" while dining with friends at Il Mulino, Greenwich Village on Thursday night, October 27.

Speaking of the rumored pair, an onlooker claimed, "There was definitely a spark between Eva and Matt." The source added, "They weren't seated next to each other, but you could tell there was something between them.

There was a little hand-holding over the table and a lot of eye contact." A representative for Eva, however, stated that there was no truth in the rumors. "Eva and Matt are friends and are working together doing charity work for Eva's Padres Contra El Cancer," her rep insisted. "She was at the dinner amongst her other friends." Eva is still dating Penelope Cruz's little brother, Eduardo Cruz. The couple first went public in February when they were spotted spending romantic weekend aboard a luxurious yacht in Miami Beach. Eva Longoria :: Close of her nightclub

Actress Eva Longoria has lost her Las Vegas nightclub Beso to bankruptcy, and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned of an unlikely suitor that wants to acquire the financially distraught club.

Ashley Madison, an online dating service that caters mainly to those already in relationships, has reached out to the attorneys handling the Beso account expressing their interest in renaming and rebranding the club “as THE exclusive restaurant and club in Las Vegas for discrete meetings and intimate encounters.”

In the letter sent on July 14, 2011, obtained by RadarOnline.com, Ashley Madison CEO Noel Biderman states that while “there is great potential in the location...a main barrier to Beso’s success was its branding as a singles’ club.”

“We are extremely interested in stepping in to fill this void and with this letter we formally express our interest in exploring a potential acquisition with you that could hopefully take Beso LLC out of Chapter 11 protection,” Biderman writes to Schwartzer & McPherson Law Firm.


“We are saddened to learn of your client Beso LLC and its owner Eva Longoria’s financial difficulties with respect to their hospitality venture and their Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.”

Longoria, along with other various investors, opened the Las Vegas Beso club in 2009 in which time it fell into nearly $5.7 million in debt by 2011.

Eva Longoria :: Attend at 2011 grand marshal of the Texas Cavaliers River

"Desperate Housewives" actress  Eva Longoria will be the 2011 grand marshal of the Texas Cavaliers River Parade during San Antonio's Fiesta.
The festival organizers are expecting about 250,000 people to watch the parade from the banks of the San Antonio river on April 11 at 7 p.m.and proceeds from the event will go to 40 charities, including the "Desperate Housewives" actress charity Eva's Heroes.

Longoria said in a recent interview that she "applauds them for taking the tradition and combining it with a philanthropic effort like children's charities."

Eva's Heroes is based in San Antonio, Texas and helps teens and young adults who were born with developmental disabilities.

"I was extremely fortunate to grow up with an intellectually disabled sister," Longoria wrote on the charity's website. "My mother became a special education teacher because of her and therefore I have been involved with all facets of this disability since I could walk and talk."

Eva Longoria :: Busy in Business debt

The  Desperate Housewives star actress has been sued by an investor who alleges that the interest payments Longoria has been receiving since pumping $1 million into her Beso restaurant-and-nightclub enterprise violated California lending law.
Beso partner Mali Nachum states that Longoria contracted to invest $1 million of her own money into the restaurant-nightclub business in return for yearly interest payments of 8 percent and a 23.33 percent stake in the company, while Nachum and fellow investor Jonas Lawrence's owners' equity in Beso would reflect Eva's heightened share.

However,last month Nachum states that he discovered this loan agreement violated state usury law i.e.,eva wasn't legally entitled to 8 percent plus the 23.33 percent—and demanded that Beso LLC bring action against her to return whatever interest she had received so far, estimated at $4.6 million.
Nachum is demanding at least $4 million in general damages, plus legal fees and the cancellation of any further interest payments to Longoria based on the original agreement.

 Parker filed for divorce in Texas, according to TMZ. 


The couple married in 2007.


She said"It is with great sadness that after seven years together, Tony and I have decided to d divorce,"
Eva Longoria said in a statement. Irreconcilable difference was cited as the cause for the divorce.
