Dannii Minogue has just taken to Twitter to confirm the split.
She tweeted: "It brings me great sadness to tell you that Kris & I have separated. We still care for each other & ask for privacy at this difficult time, in particular for our son Ethan who remains our number one priority."
In response, Kris Smith (@KrisSmith13) has also tweeted confirmation of the couple's split.
"Dannii and I have a deep mutual love and respect for each other and although things have not worked out we have a gorgeous son together that we both love and implore everyone to respect our privacy at this challenging time."
The couple separated two weeks ago and Smith, 33, has moved out of their Melbourne home, according to the UK paper Daily Mail.
Minogue, 40, a judge of Australia's Got Talent, and Smith met in 2008, and now have a 21-month-old son, Ethan, together.
There has been no comment from the couple but Smith recently changed his Twitter profile to a cryptic message, says the UK paper.
"It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice... not really sure what my job is anymore... but I do know I love my boy more than life...," Smith tweeted.
This isn't the first time rumours have surfaced about the couple's relationship ending.
In May last year they issued a statement confirming they were still together.
"Thanks for your concern. We're happy to be back at home in Melbourne together as a family," they said at the time.
