Kid Rock is no stranger to country music. His song "All Summer Long" was a top 5 hit on the country singles chart in 2008 and the video won a CMT Award last year. He also taped an episode of "CMT Crossroads" with Hank Williams Jr. in 2001.
Someone alert the authorities: Kid Rock's been given the keys to the CMT Music Awards.
"The rumors are true -- I'm hosting the CMT Awards live from Nashville on June 9th," the singer announced on his Web site Thursday. "All I can promise is I will be awesome."
The Detroit-based rocker may seem to be an unusual choice for the fan-voted country music award show, but Kid Rock has made Nashville a second home.
He's close pals with several country artists including Hank Williams Jr. and his daughter Holly Williams, and in 2005, he married Pamela Anderson at a Nashville honky tonk; it was one of a trio of celebrations before their short-lived marriage ended.
Kid Rock's had country radio success as well with his hit "All Summer Long," which won a CMT Award at last year's show.
